The Plentiful Harvest

I’m always amazed when I plant our garden, how seeds produce such an abundance of harvest. The ground (dirt), does not dictate what kind of produce or fruit will be on the plants, but it is the seed that produces after its kind.

“What you sow does not come to life unless it dies. When you sow, you do not plant the body that will be, but just a seed, perhaps of wheat or of something else. But God gives it a body as he has determined, and to each kind of seed he gives its own body.” 1 Corinthians 15: 37,

“Very truly I tell you, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds.” John 12:24

It is my desire and prayer as leaders that we plant the seed of God’s Word. When the Word is planted it will produce souls for the kingdom of God. The Old Farmer’s Almanac lists four essentials for growing good crops, all four of these are referred to in the Bible: 1) you need good soil, 2) you need plenty of light, 3) the plants need water, and 4) you must keep the weeds out of the garden. If we are to reap a great harvest we must follow these four steps, then last but certainly not the least, the Word says;

“He told them, "The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the LORD of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.” Luke 10:2,

As leaders we must involve ourselves in not only praying for workers, but we also must be workers in the harvest field. Let us be encouraged the harvest is ready and the harvest is great, it only needs to be brought into the store house.
